  • Barley Bacon and Vegetables Stir Fry

Barley bacon and vegetables stir fry is a flavorful and healthy side or main dish, delicious!

Here I cooked my barley for 25 minutes in a large volume of water, sautéed a few veggies and some bacon, then briefly stir fried my ingredients together, this recipe makes for a delicious main dish, it can be a side dish too.

  • Easy Lo Mein (Beef Meatballs and Fried Noodles)

Easy Lo Mein, beef meatballs and noodles, vegetables, hot, spicy and delicious!

A delicious and housewife friendly dish, as it can be made with everything left in our fridges.

  • Gyozas my way

Delicious homemade fried chicken gyozas or pot stickers, very easy to make!

Today, I wanted to make gyozas but I was missing two key ingredients: cabbage and chives. In the original Japanese recipe, there is as much, if not more, cabbage and chives than meat, that’s the reason why I added « my way » to the title of the recipe. I will make the original recipe one of these days..

  • Herbs Spaetzle Pasta

Spaetzle, egg pasta bits, delicious and very easy to make.

Spaetzle are rather served with meats and creamy sauces, but I have read that Germans like to eat them with a schnitzel (a pork Milanese cutlet). I like to serve them in autumn with deer fillets or any cut of game and a red wine sauce.

  • Linguine, Shrimps and Asparagus, Creamy Sauce

Linguine, shrimp scampi, green asparagus, mushrooms, in a creamy white wine sauce, delicious!

A very flavorful dish, shrimps and green asparagus pair wonderfully and linguine seems just the right size pasta for this dish.

  • Orzo and Turkey Stir Fry

Orzo and turkey stir fry, such a flavorful pasta dish!

Orzo is a dry pasta that is quite hard as these little grains of pasta will cook for 9 to 10 minutes. I like my pasta al dente, therefore I cook it for 9 minutes sharp and I find that if you cook orzo longer, it tends to quickly get mushy.

  • Pancit Canton Noodles – Pork and Veggies Stir Fry

Pancit Canton noodles, pork and veggies stir fry, delicious!

A flavorful dish made of stir fried pork tenderloin tips, bell peppers, mushrooms, beansprouts, basil and pancit noodles, a Filippino kind of noodles.

  • Spelt Sautéed with Vegetables

Spelt sauteed with vegetables, carrots, peas, green beans, green asparagus and bacon, excellent!

This is really a delicious, flavorful and healthy side dish or main dish.

This dish can be made with the vegetables you have in the house, fresh or frozen. It can also be made in the same fashion using wheat, bulgur, millet, buckwheat, etc.

  • Squid Ink Pasta and Seafood

Squid ink pasta and seafood, shrimps, mussels and scallops, creamy sauce and simple samphire/garlic pesto, delicious!

This is a beautifully colored and very flavorful dish to serve on special occasions. The pasta should taste remotely of iodine, a bit like sea urchins when it’s freshly made, but here I used an industrial brand, and it tasted just like any dry pasta, I liked the color though for a change and it was delicious.

  • Tricolor Tagliolini – Seafood and Pesto Sauce

Tricolor tagliolini, seafood and pesto sauce, such a flavorful pasta dish!

I love multicolored food like this dish, I find it so more tempting and nice when you have guests!

  • Udon Noodles – Chicken and Veggies Stir Fry

Udon noodles, chicken and veggies stir fry, bell peppers, cabbage and shiitake, deliciously spicy!

Udon noodles are thick wheat noodles, they are soft, chewy, with a mild flavor. They are generally served fresh, that's how I prefer them, although you can also find them dried.
